Connecting to the Wired Network
You'll need...
- A computer (virus-free with current system updates)
- A network cable (cat 5 or better Note: this is not a phone cord!)
- Your OSU username (name.#) and password
Plug one end of your network cable into your computer and the other end into the ResNet data jack on the wall . Click on your internet browser. You'll be directed to a ResNet Authentication page. Enter your OSU username.# (smith.1111) and password and click on 'continue' to connect.
If you have trouble getting a connection, call ResNet at 292-5700, 7AM-11PM.
Connecting to the Wireless Network for the first time
To connect to OSUWireless, you'll need...
- Your OSU username and password
- To activate your OSU username and password go to my.osu.edu and follow the instructions.
- If you forget or need to change your OSU username and password, you can go to the same link to reset it
- A computing device with a wireless network card that is properly configured
- Download and run the wireless configuration utility here - you should be prompted to enter your OSU username and password
- If for any reason the configuration utility does not work...
- Follow the steps on this page to configure your device
- Choose your device's operating system to find the correct steps to follow
When configuring your computing device to wireless for the first time you'll be prompted to enter your OSU username (smith.1111) and password.
If you're connecting from the residence halls, you will be prompted about once a day to sign in to the ResNet authentication page using your OSU username as well.
If you change your password at my.osu.edu for any reason, you will need to reconfigure your computing device with your new password after it has been changed.
